The Homebound Ministry is designed to reach out to elderly members who are no longer able to attend regular services at the church.
Several activities are included in this ministry. A CD of the Sunday services which include sermons by the pastor is available upon request to shut-ins at no charge.
In addition to ministers, several other groups visit the homebound from time to time. The Youth Choir sometimes makes visits to deliver cards or sing to them. Students in the college department and deacons have also visited shut-ins.
The Homebound Ministry has one special event each year for the shut-ins. A banquet, held before Christmas, is co-sponsored by the Silvertones and the Eager Beavers. These two senior adult groups, aided by special designated funds from an anonymous benefactor, prepare a special meal for shut-ins who are able to attend the banquet. Entertainment is provided, and a bag of useful gifts and a poinsettia are presented to each homebound guest at the banquet. Gifts, flowers and meals are delivered to those who are unable to attend. When scheduling permits, the Silvertones make trips to assisted living and nursing home facilities to sing, especially during the Christmas Season.
Leviticus 19:32:Rse in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God.
I am the Lord.
