At Life's Crossroads
![]() My name is Scott, and God has blessed me more than I ever could have imagined with my wife Stephanie Elaine (Hayes) Hood. We enjoy hanging out with teenagers and sharing with them the love that Christ first showed us by dying on the cross for our sins. We do this mostly through the ministry of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where I am the Student Pastor, Youth Minister, Bishop of Students, Professional Teenager, or whatever name Dr. Price has for me that particular week.
I love God, my wife, my family, and most people, and I try to live according to 1 John 4:19 which is my life verse. Stephanie and I love going to the lake or being on vacation together. We basically like having a good time in the name of Jesus wherever and whatever that may mean. If you are interested in knowing more about my journey with God, check the background information below out or simply contact me sometime.
BackGround:
I was raised in a godly home and saved and baptized when I was nine years old. I surrendered my life to full-time ministry in the summer of 1996 when I was 16. I graduated from the University of Tennessee in December of 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications. God has given me a SHAPE to minister to students. The Lord has given me several opportunities to learn and grow in ministry. First, God allowed me to work as a volunteer in the youth ministry and to teach Sunday School at Stock Creek Baptist Church. Also, while I was in college, God opened a door for me to work with middle school students in a parachurch organization known as Yoke. As a Yoke Folk, I learned how to plan and interact in schools with students. Then as an intern at Beaver Dam, I began to understand what the job of a youth minister involves on a daily basis. As the youth associate at Beaver Dam I was able to grow in many areas of ministry including developing new programming, teaching, leading small group Bible studies, planning for both large and small events, teaching FAITH, and recruiting youth staff. In the fall of 2003 the Lord open my eyes and heart to further study at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky where I earned a Master of Arts in Christian Education in May, 2005. My time at Southern taught me much about discipline and the importance of relying on the Bible as the foundational piece of life, vital to teaching others not only to understand, but to apply the Word of God to their own lives. God has developed and matured me a great deal since I came to know Him as my Savior and Lord, and I am humbled by the understanding that an Omniscient, Omnipotent, Sovereign God would desire to use me to reach and teach people in the name of Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit. However, I am confident that God has given me gifts, abilities, knowledge, and experiences to lead students and their families to know Christ and grow in Him in the context of a local church.
